Returning to the Mountain (II)

The painter and teacher Enrique Martinez Celaya, has said, understandably, that one does not let everything out of their studio. I believe this, particularly at a time of intense social media engagement by artists. We are moved to engage and that is good.

However, there are times to “let work out” of the studio. That is not every moment and in fact it can be long periods of time when one does not let work out of the studio.

This is a time of hibernation for my work. Oddly enough, when the world is beginning to venture out ever so slowly in this pandemic era, a rest has come to my work. It is the move of my studio to the mountain that brings forth this quiet time of collecting and pondering.

Until then.
