I am often asked about my process by those who view my work. One of the challenges the viewer perceives when they look at the work is that it is freehand. The work is a discipline and it is a metaphor as well.
It is specific. It is honoring the container – a sacred space. It is paying attention to where you start, where you stop and every move in between. It is watching all space in between your starting and stopping point. These two are not the same forms of awareness.
It is knowing when to stop and when to start – knowing when something is complete. Knowing when not to take something to a painful point. Understanding that in the moment it is real. After the moment passes, it is a memory – an illusion.
