and The Resolution
For many years I have worked with earth as medium in my work; not as something to give texture to a painting – but to give it life. My work is about the earth, my relationship to it and your relationship to it as well.
I have decided to make drawings. Moving away from the use of land, earth, dirt, soil for a bit – or maybe not- it is all an unknown.
My aesthetic concerns – rhythm, repetition, grid as manifestation of breath – those remain the bones of my work. That has not changed. The simplicity and materiality (or lack thereof); the raw presence of the state of a body and mind – both documented and betrayed – is my work now.
The role of the Enso in Zen practice influences this work as well. The Dharma, a lifelong and profound investigation of perception, continues to inform all of my work.
